Wichita Mountains Elopement
I tagged along with a fellow photographer (Adrian Birdsong Photography) as she photographed this couple planning to elope in Southwest Oklahoma all while healing from a shoulder surgery and having her arm in a sling. She still maneuvered her way around this small setback easily and allowed me to help photograph this stunning couple on their big day. These two travelled several hours to elope near the Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge which lies only a few miles out of Medicine Park and Lawton, Oklahoma. There’s plenty to see once you’re in the refuge such as Bison, Longhorns, and plenty of rock features with grassy pastures surrounding them. There’s trails that lead over the rocky hills, down into a 40 ft hole with trickling waterfalls, and even over the dam with canyon views. The Wichita Mountains are home of the famous Mount Scott and around the corner you can grab a mouthwatering burger (some of the best in Western Oklahoma from what I’ve heard) from Meers Restaurant or a treat from one of the many shops in Medicine Park. If you want to stay for awhile or even elope here yourself, there are plenty of gorgeous areas to grab photos between Medicine Park and the mountains. Rent a cabin with your honey for a weekend, I’d love to photograph you while you’re there!
